2022 Jeep Cherokee vs Subaru Forester

Want big savings? The Subaru Forester certainly comes with a much lower starting price:$25,895. Meanwhile, the Jeep Cherokee starts at $34,895. Each of these price tags has the potential to rise, though, when you select a higher trim model or add options packages.

Inside, these compact crossover SUVs have a lot in common, with roomy, supportive seating and impressive lists of standard features. However, it’s the Cherokee that gives you more to love, with standard creature comforts that include a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. The base Forester isn’t quite as handsomely equipped, though it does include automatic climate control. Both small crossovers include smartphone-friendly features, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and touchscreen infotainment.

If you’re looking for more power, the Cherokee can help you out. Not only does it come standard with a peppy, 180-horsepower engine, but you can also choose between two more powerful options. Both make around 270 horsepower, but one is a sporty V6 and the other an efficient turbocharged four-cylinder engine (delivering up to 26 mpg combined).

Both compact crossovers offer a special trim model that’s designed to boost your off-road potential. The Subaru Forester’s rugged trim model, the Wilderness, is also clad in all-terrain tires and skid plates. You even get a roof rack to help you transport your sporting goods and camping gear. However, this crossover lacks the extra power and upgraded four-wheel-drive system, sticking to the Forester’s base engine and all-wheel drive.
